It is with great sadness and disappointment that we are announcing that we will be dissolving the farm due to congress passing the Corporate Transparency Act. The Alabama federal appeals court deemed this law to be unconstitutional, and despite the ruling the DOJ will fight that decision. This law that was passed by congress forces all small businesses that make less than $4 or $5 million dollars a year to file their business filings every year with the FinCin, the Financial Crimes Unit at the department of treasury. This is despite the fact that small businesses are required to file with the state of Louisiana and required to file state and federal taxes. What has us enraged is the fact that is this is being done to fight terrorism. Small business owners are not terrorists, we are hard working men and women. We are the back bone of America, but are now being treated like terrorists. We have taken hits in the cost of goods and had to help each other to survive inflation and constant rise of goods that impacts how we thrive to just surviving. The dream of investing into a wedding venue, a place to gather as a community, keeping fun affordable with a lazy river and outdoor activities, which is so badly needed in our community, has come to an end. We have been hit twice this year by the federal government by right of entry to FinCin. The government should not be over reaching in the name of terrorism and ask not force. After calling all our Republican law makers representing my state in the federal government, the RNC and serving in an elected position where despite being republican controlled the will of the people was not done. I was told to email to get an appointment with our lawmakers, thank you for your comment will let the congressman/senator know and when calling the reps in congress that have a bill that would fight back on this I was told to go back to my own state and the RNC the politics voice mail is full, the media box is full and customer service says we are sending an email and you may or may not be contacted back! This is a national issue facing all small businesses. Only one law makers' office in the senate said it is like a census of businesses. So I said if Ice was going to do the Census Bureaus job, wouldn't that be equivalent to making small business report to the Financial Crimes Unit of the Department of treasury. The response was no. So what we have been sold and what we are getting is not about the people. The fact that our elected leaders that get their salary from our hard work, do not seem to understand that if we do not register because we feel that it is unconstitutional, we will be fined $549 a day for every day we do not file. This is not ok. I am tired of lying politicians and WE THE PEOPLE being political pawns. So we are not going to be making that investment which would have been about $1-1.5 million, created jobs, allowed other small businesses to highlight their goods, and so much more. No woman in small business or agriculture where we are the minority or any small business should be treated as terrorists. We cannot afford $549 a day to see if congress is going to repeal this, so we will dissolve. But if anyone out there wants to stand up, we will stand with you, we can create an organization of small business owners and go to DC and demand that our law makers repeal this. Thank you for all the support.
